Aims and Scope
Pistachio and Plant-based Health Journal (PHJ) is an international open-access journal devoted to the safety of pistachio and plants and their effects on the health of human. Scientific studies on the production and processing of healthy pistachio and plants, nutritional and pharmaceutical aspects of pistachio and plants, and overcoming challenges in producing, processing and storing of them are welcomed.
Moreover, PHJ intends to establish a link between researchers, farmers, producer and the exporter in order to develop the boundaries of knowledge.
The journal covering valuable research related to:
- Pharmacology, and toxicology of pistachio and plant-derived compounds.
- Clinical and nutritional applications of pistachio, plants and natural products.
- Biotechnology and genetics approaches for pistachio and plants improvement and sustainable production.
- Food science and agriculture, including production, processing, and storage of pistachio and plants.
- Chemical composition and bioactive components of pistachio and plants contributing to health benefits.
- By-products and bio-products utilization, innovation, and extraction technologies from pistachio and plants.
Publication Frequency:
The journal operates on a biannual/semiannual basis with continuous publication. Articles are published online immediately upon acceptance, and these are later compiled into two formal issues per year.
Policies:
1. The PHJ follows an open-access publication policy. All scientific articles are published on-line immediately upon acceptance.
2. Publication in this journal is completely free of charge. No Article Processing Charges (APCs) are levied on authors.
3. Copyright for published articles is retained by the authors. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), permitting others to copy, distribute, and adapt the material, provided proper attribution is given.

6. PHJ is committed to maintaining high ethical standards, performing thorough Plagiarism Checks, and ensuring full transparency regarding any conflict of interest.
PHJ Logo:
The logo of this journal is inspired by its name of "Pistachio and Plant-based Health Journal". The journal has been established with the aim that pistachio is the main agricultural product of Rafsanjan. Pistachio is not only an economic and social significance for the region, but also a rich source of bioactive compounds with nutritional, medicinal, and industrial value. This plant has a history spanning several millennia within Iranian culture and civilization, and has long attracted the interest of researchers in the fields of biological sciences, agriculture, and medical sciences.
The unique characteristics of the pistachio tree and the diversity of its secondary metabolites have resulted in a wide range of applications derived from all parts of the plan including the kernel, hull, shell, leaves, stems, and gum. Therefore, choosing this name and scientific orientation not only reflects the local identity of the region but also responds to the growing scientific need to generate and disseminate evidence‑based knowledge on the medicinal, biochemical, toxicological, biosafety, recombinant, industrial, and health‑related properties of this valuable species.
